Discover the process behind turning seawater into safe, reliable drinking water. Operational since 2009, the Gold Coast Desalination Plant plays a vital role in securing South East Queensland’s water supply – particularly during droughts, floods, or when conventional water treatment plants are offline. This guided tour offers a behind-the-scenes look at the desalination process, the plant’s integration with the SEQ Water Grid, and how desalinated water is distributed across the region to enhance long-term water security.

Age requirement: 12 + years Guests 12-18 must be accompanied by an adult

Safety requirements: Long sleeves and pants and closed-in flat shoes required. All guests are required to wear PPE that will be provided.

Tours will take place each day:
Session one: 9.30am to 10.30am
Session two: 11.00am to 12.00pm
Session three: 1.00pm to 2.00pm
