Smith Collective: Parklands Village
The Smith Collective stands as a legacy to the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games.
The Gold Coast’s largest urban renewal project, built on the 29.4 hectare old Gold Coast Parklands, was master planned, designed and delivered in time to house 6500 athletes and team officials during the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games.
What remains is a mixed use development aimed at renters. Striking colours reflect the diverse and celebratory qualities that underpin the Games experience. New residents take their own place in games history living in apartments set amid lush green parks.
The project won multiple design awards: Excellence in Urban Design Award at Gold Coast Design Awards 2017; the Helen Josephson Award for Urban Design Leadership at the Gold Coast Urban Design Awards 2017, the 2018 Minister’s Award for Urban Design and the Karl Langer Award for Urban Design at Queensland Architecture Awards 2018.
