The Gold Coast Desalination Plant turns seawater into drinking water and has been operating since 2009. Come behind the scenes and discover how desalination works, its critical role in providing drinking water and how we can move desalinated water around the region using the SEQ Water Grid.

Tours will take place each day:
Session one: 9.30am to 10.30am
Session two: 11.00am to 12.00pm
Session three: 1.00pm to 2.00pm

Additional Information

  • Minimum age requirement: 12 years. Children 12 years above and must be accompanied by an adult.
  • Minimum PPE requirements for all participants: Full length trousers, long sleeved shirt, enclosed flat shoes.
  • Seqwater will provide participants with high visibility vests, hard hats and safety glasses.
  • Participants will not be permitted on the tour if minimum PPE requirements are not met.
  • Photography is permitted in designated areas.
  • Participants will be required to walk up a flight of stairs in the pre-treatment building. All other elements of the tour are accessible.
  • If the plant is in operation, access to the reverse osmosis building is not permitted.
  • On street parking is available in Boyd Street.
