The Rotary Broadwater Chapel By The Sea was formerly the Prayer Chapel of the original Gold Coast Hospital in Nerang Street, Southport. With the completion of the new Gold Coast University Hospital adjacent to Griffith University in 2013 and demolition of the original hospital imminent, the Rotary Club of Broadwater Southport Inc. were invited by Gold Coast Councillor Dawn Crichlow (OAM) to save the chapel and give it a new life.
The building was relocated to the Northern end of the Broadwater Parklands and has been renovated and extended by the Rotary Club of Broadwater Southport.
Gold Coast Open House proudly acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of the land on which our events are held, the Kombumerri and Yugambeh Language Group families of the Gold Coast. We pay our respects to their Elders past, present and emerging, and recognise their continuing connections to the lands, waters, wildlife and extended communities throughout South East Queensland.
