Marking the southern end of Gold Coast’s famous surfing beaches, Coolangatta has always been a favourite destination, to visit and to stay. Bounded by the state border, the sea and both Kirra and Point Danger headlands, these topographical attributes helped shaped the community that we see today
This walking tour allowed participants to discover Coolangatta through the eyes of a heritage expert, an artist and an urban designer. This included hearing about its early settlement, its role as a border town, and railway terminus, as well as the early development of a still thriving beach culture.
