Surf World Gold Coast
Surf World Gold Coast can be found opposite Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary.
This museum has one Australia’s, if not the world’s, greatest surfboard collections, including the Caballito de Totora which is the earliest known wave riding craft used to fish and catch waves.
Surf World has the only Peruvian reed board outside of Peru. It stands 14ft tall and is Surf World’s ‘Mona Lisa piece’. Peruvian reed board culture is 3000 years old, predating the Incas.
Surf World has a merchandise section which sells t-shirts, surf prints, paintings, books and stickers.
The display at Surf World includes a touch screen which can be used to view historical segments of Ken Brown’s Coastwatch TV series.
