Broadbeach Library offers contemporary spaces and a range of library services, resources and activities. The library is just a few minutes' walk from the heart of Broadbeach, opposite Pacific Fair shopping centre. It's one of the city's most environmentally sustainable buildings, designed to reduce use of water, electricity and air conditioning.
The current building opened in 2008. The first public library in the area – Canal Estates Library – opened in 1974. The library relocated to its present site in 1977. It was renamed twice: as Mermaid Waters Library in 1983, and then Broadbeach Library in 2008.
Gold Coast Open House proudly acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of the land on which our events are held, the Kombumerri and Yugambeh Language Group families of the Gold Coast. We pay our respects to their Elders past, present and emerging, and recognise their continuing connections to the lands, waters, wildlife and extended communities throughout South East Queensland.
