Shored Up: When human nature and the force of nature collide.

Price: $10 (Adults) $5 (students) Free (under 18) |  Recommended Audience Age: All ages

Our Gold Coast beaches are one of our city’s greatest treasures. But with coastlines and beaches around the world disappearing before our eyes, it’s time to ask ourselves some tough questions about our coastal community and our relationship to the land.

In Shored Up, Director Ben Kalina asks these questions in an American context. Join us for a special screening of Shored Up and live virtual Q&A with Ben as we discuss the themes of Shored Up in our own local context.

In Shored Up, Ben dives into what a rising sea will do to our homes, our businesses, and the survival of our communities. Can we afford to pile enough sand on our shores to keep the ocean at bay? From Long Beach Island, to New Jersey and the Outer Banks of North Carolina, we hear from surfers, politicians, scientists and residents are racing to answer these questions.

Our development of the coastlines put us in a tough predicament, and it’s time to start looking for solutions.
