SPEED DATE AN ARCHITECT

Are you designing your new house or thinking about renovating? Perhaps you’re working on a fit-out for your business….. or maybe you are an architecture student looking for a fresh set of eyes to critique and assist you with your design.

Here’s your chance to get valuable input from a local architect.

Gold Coast Open House 2019 is offering free 20 minute consultations with experienced architects as part of the event on 19 October 2019.

Bring your ideas, sketches, drawings, photos and inspirational images and we’ll match make you with an experienced architect who can help you to optimise your design.

HAVE YOU EVER CONSIDERED STUDYING ARCHITECTURE?

The Australian Institute of Architects invites secondary students to experience being an architect at this special free workshop at the Abedian School of Architecture, Bond University.

  • Learn about the profession and studying Architecture
  • Chat to University Advisors, current architecture students, graduates, academics and registered architects
  • Meet University representatives from the University of Queensland, Griffith Bond & QUT
  • Try your hand at creating a dynamic model
  • Meet like-minded students

At the conclusion of the workshop, participants can join a building tour in the afternoon.

PUBLIC ART 'IN CONVERSATION' TALK - Booked out

As our city continues to transform through public art, this Public Art ‘In Conversation’ talk is a unique opportunity to hear from one of the artists commissioned to develop these works.
Join us for a very special afternoon facilitated by leading arts professional John Waldron in conversation with Stuart Green, commissioned artist of the ‘All Eyes on Us – The Commonwealth Star’ public art commission located on the Surfers Paradise foreshore.
Together Waldron and Stuart will provide a glimpse into the artistic process behind the commission and explore the unique value of site-specific outcomes within the public realm, followed by a visit to the artwork with the artist.
The Commonwealth Star was commissioned by City of Gold Coast and Queensland Government for Festival 2018 as part of the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games.
This event is co-hosted by City of Gold Coast and Gold Coast Open House.
Afternoon tea and refreshments provided.

ARCHITECTURE PHOTOGRAPHY MINI WORKSHOP BY ANDY MACPHERSON – BOOKED OUT

Go behind the scenes of an architectural photography shoot with accredited professional photographer Andy Macpherson at the Kurrawa Surf Club by Arkhefield.

Along with exploring the building, Andy will be giving an overview of the approach and equipment needed to photograph architecture. Spaces are very limited and booking are essential, no camera equipment required.
