Stradbroke Plaza Apartment
Stradbroke Plaza, a 40-year-old building in Southport's CBD is the first mixed use residential/commercial building on the Gold Coast.
According to the project architect, Eldon Bottcher (employed by Design Collaborative Architects), he envisioned a green wall concept, with each level having its own treed Plaza. Hence the name of this building overlooking the Broadwater to the then southern tip of South Stradbroke Island.
Unit 6 on the second floor is characterised as a SOHO or Small Office/Home Office, being both residence and office space in the now predominantly commercial building. Only three SOHO apartments remain at Stradbroke Plaza.
The original intent of the designer has been retained by the current architect owner, and the unit is surrounded by a curtain of bamboo and a mature courtyard garden.
Meet the proud owners of Unit 6, Arnold and Jacqui Wolthers, who promise to share some stories about the fascinating history of this iconic building. Prepare to be surprised by this hidden gem.
