Stradbroke House

Gold Coast Open House gives a limited number of attendees the exclusive opportunity to view this award-winning house which can be visited only by boat.

Visitors cross through bush and dunes to arrive at the house which appears to float like tents through a canopy of trees. The owners original brief was for a small house where she and four grandchildren could stay. The main extravagance was a slippery slide.

Fold out sleep pods were an innovation developed in response to town planning limits. They take up less space when folded up and give the kids the impression they are sleeping in a tent by the beach.

It was the Australian Institute of Architects Gold Coast region House of the Year and sustainability winner. At the Queensland awards, it won the Robin Dods Award for Best Residential Architecture  Houses, and was shortlisted in the Sustainable Architecture category.

As your boat will be landing on the beach for this tour, please ensure adequate fitness. Wear appropriate footwear, bring sunscreen, insect repellant and water.
