Griffith University Aquatic and Fitness Facility

Conrad Gargett, a leading design practice in the sport and leisure space, designed and delivered the Griffith University Gold Coast Aquatic Centre and fitness facility which officially opened in February 2017.

Strategically positioned at the heart of Griffith University’s Gold Coast campus, the 1.2 hectare Aquatic Centre and Fitness Facility site delivers a world class sporting and recreation venue.

Purpose-built as a venue for competition, training and recreation for athletes, group training squads, university staff and students, as well as the wider community, the world-class venue was recently utilised for training by elite athletes competing in the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games™.

The facility consists of a 50 metre FINA standard outdoor Olympic swimming pool and a state of the art 300 square metre functional fitness facility that overlooks the substantial open space of the pool area.

Many student-related events and been held at the Centre and world-class athletes, local schools and teams use the facility as their training venue.

The public viewing terrace and open-plan design of the facility captures the poolside activity within and beyond to the athletic track and tree lined hills on the horizon.
