ABC Gold Coast

Step inside the home of ABC Gold Coast at Mermaid Beach, which was built in 1988, five years after its launch in Surfers Paradise. The station changed from AM to FM and the resulting 91.7 ABC Gold Coast was aimed at the youth market.

Several on-air transformations followed before it became the home of local content. The building is very much a product of its time with the Grand Arch a talking point for visitors. So too is the use of gold throughout.

Former staffers have included 7.30 Report host Leigh Sales and former receptionist turned Kylie Minogue PA, Leeanne Woolrich. Pamela Stephenson-Connolly, Jeffrey Archer and Sigrid Thornton have dropped in for interviews.

The building, barely changed since it was built, underwent a refurbishment in 2017.

Go behind the scenes at the ABC Gold Coast studio during their regular Saturday morning broadcast.
