CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR ART COMP WINNER & RUNNERS UP…..

AND THE WINNER IS…

Burleigh Heads based artist Zoe Lewis has won the inaugural Gold Coast Open House design competition for an artwork that perfectly captures the essence of the Gold Coast beach house.

Zoe’s winning artwork will feature on a souvenir Gold Coast Open House 2019 tote bag. She also wins a prize package valued at $1,000 courtesy of GCOH sponsor MinterEllison Gold Coast.

“I couldn’t resist this beachfront house and huge coconut palm at Miami, below the old Magic Mountain,” said Zoe.

“I love spotting a perfectly composed fibro-brick beach house with an iconic palm or pandanus out the front. You can often find me taking a sneaky photo from the footpath.”

Zoe has a visual arts degree from Curtin University of Technology. She works from photos to create a sketch she transfers onto a linoblock, carves, then hand-prints onto paper with oil-based ink.

FIRST RUNNER UP

Peter Swaddle was first runner up with ‘Gold Coast Winter Morning’ an expressionistic representation that evokes the iconic God Coast Skyline set against sand, ocean & sky.

Peter takes home $500 in prizes.

SECOND RUNNER UP

Hannah Cutts was second runner up with ‘Gold Coast’, a visually striking composition featuring the Old Lennons Broadbeach Hotel that judges said was nostalgic, yet contemporary.

Hannah wins $300 in prizes.
