The Woodroffe Hotel
The Woodroffe is the only business hotel in Southport, the Gold Coast's designated CBD. It is also the very first Gold Coast accommodation to offer a true 'Budget Boutique' guest experience - a unique one-off design for both architecture, interiors and operations providing a high level of quality and individuality at affordable prices.
By selecting those core services that are most important to the guests, the hotel design makes a comfortable and modern room, a great shower, a tasty breakfast and opportunities to work and socialize on site the focus of The Woodroffe experience.
The building was approved under the Southport PDA and features 104 rooms over 8 floors. Parking is semi-underground and the public areas are elevated with a view north across Woodroffe Park. The main entrance is on the corner of White & Garden Street, the corner being emphasized by a feature tower with playfully offset picture frame windows of varying sizes.
The materials and colour palette is restrained, but with a subtlety of layers and textures, including window sunhoods and shade/privacy screens with a custom pattern evolved from the cracked bark of the Moreton Bay Ash, or 'Goo-een' in the Yugambeh dialect of the Bundjalung language. The prevalent vegetation of Ash trees inspired the Kombumerri people's name for this place, prior to first European settlement and establishment of Southport.
