Art Deco Tour Southport

Join a guided tour and learn more about the Art Deco buildings of Southport’s CBD. Admire the architecture, learn about our local history and be introduced to some of the buildings that line Scarborough and Nerang Streets.

The walk is guided by librarians who love sharing stories of the Gold Coast and will gives people an opportunity to learn a little more about Southport and see things that they may have walked past countless times but overlooked.

Some of the buildings included in the walk are:

Queensland Public Trustee, Nerang Street.
Southport Town Hall, Nerang Street.
Hotel Cecil, corner of Nerang and Scarborough Streets.
Earls Court, Nerang Street.
Former Woolworths store, Nerang Street.
Granton House, Nerang Street.
Former C. W. Tyley Shoes store, Scarborough Street.

It is recommended that you have an appropriate level of fitness, wear comfortable walking shoes, and bring a hat, sun protection and a bottle of water.

Bookings are essential. In the event of bad weather, we will meet at the Local Studies Library for a virtual armchair tour.

Tours

There will be two guided walking tours at 9am, 11am and (new time) 1pm which will run for approximately 1 hour. It is recommended that you have an appropriate level of fitness, wear comfortable walking shoes, and bring a hat, sun protection and a bottle of water. Meet at the Southport Library Foyer - Cnr Garden & Lawson Streets.
